The campaign mobilized thousands of young volunteers across Bangladesh to plant trees, organize human chains, and conduct environmental awareness activities, promoting climate action and sustainable development."
On 5 June 2026, OAB Foundation marked World Environment Day by successfully organizing the nationwide campaign "Tree Plantation in 64 Districts in One Day" under its Mission Green Bangladesh initiative. The campaign was launched with the commitment to protect the environment, raise climate awareness, and contribute to building a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh.
As part of this coordinated national initiative, more than one hundred thousand tree saplings were planted across all 64 districts of Bangladesh with the active participation of youth volunteers, environmental activists, students, and community members. Simultaneously, tree plantation drives, human chains, and public awareness campaigns were organized throughout the country to encourage environmental responsibility and climate resilience.
The campaign was conducted under the theme, "Plant Trees, Build a Greener Bangladesh," highlighting the importance of increasing green cover, conserving biodiversity, and engaging citizens in environmental protection.
In Rangpur, the program was jointly implemented by OAB Foundation and World Vision Bangladesh at Rangpur Press Club. Local volunteers planted trees at educational institutions, religious establishments, and other important public spaces. Tree saplings were also distributed among low-income families to encourage household-level greening and long-term environmental stewardship. Awareness sessions and community engagement activities further inspired people to take collective action against climate change.
The Rangpur event was attended by local journalists, students, environmental activists, volunteers, and representatives from various organizations. The district-level activities were coordinated by Md. Azmain Islam, Divisional Coordinator (Rangpur), OAB Foundation.
Through this nationwide initiative, OAB Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people, promoting environmental conservation, and strengthening community participation in climate action. The organization will continue to implement collaborative programs that contribute to biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and a climate-resilient Bangladesh.
