OAB Foundation organized the Intergenerational Dialogue on Climate Resilience at the Department of Environment in Dhaka, bringing together young leaders, government officials, climate experts, civil society organizations, NGOs, and grassroots representatives. The dialogue highlighted the importance of combining the energy of youth with the experience of senior generations to build a climate-resilient and sustainable Bangladesh. The event was organized under the Climate Innovation Cube – A Youth-Led Climate Learning Experience Zone Project with support from VSO Bangladesh and Ipas Bangladesh."
On 15 April 2026, OAB Foundation organized the Intergenerational Dialogue on Climate Resilience at the Department of Environment (DoE), Agargaon, Dhaka, under the Climate Innovation Cube – A Youth-Led Climate Learning Experience Zone Project. The event was supported by VSO Bangladesh and Ipas Bangladesh.
The dialogue brought together young climate leaders, government officials, environmental experts, civil society organizations, development partners, academics, media professionals, and grassroots representatives to discuss collaborative approaches for strengthening Bangladesh's climate resilience.
The event emphasized that achieving a sustainable and climate-resilient future requires the effective combination of young people's energy, innovation, and leadership with the knowledge and experience of senior generations. Participants discussed climate adaptation, renewable energy, energy justice, environmental protection, and inclusive policymaking.
Distinguished speakers included Ziaul Haque, Additional Director General of the Department of Environment; Sharif Jamil, Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh; Syed Salimullah, Grants Finance Manager of Ipas Bangladesh; Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Manager (Just Energy Transition, Resilience and Climate Justice) at ActionAid Bangladesh; and climate expert Asif Moinur Chowdhury. The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Mir Mohammad Ali of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
Discussions focused on accelerating renewable energy adoption, ensuring equitable access to clean energy, strengthening youth participation in climate governance, integrating grassroots perspectives into policy development, and promoting behavioral change to achieve long-term climate resilience.
During the event, Farzana Akter, Project Coordinator of OAB Foundation, presented the project objectives, activities, and future plans, while Rakib Hossain, Head of Finance of OAB Foundation, played a key role in coordinating the overall event.
Speaking at the dialogue, OAB Foundation Founder and President Asaduzzaman Tuhin emphasized that meaningful climate resilience can only be achieved through intergenerational cooperation and by creating greater leadership opportunities for young people.
The dialogue concluded with a shared commitment from participants to promote renewable energy, ensure energy justice, strengthen climate resilience, and work collectively toward building a greener, more sustainable, and environmentally resilient Bangladesh. OAB Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to continuing inclusive initiatives that empower youth, engage marginalized communities, and foster collaborative climate action across the country.
